Boiler Servicing In The Spring

Having worked tirelessly throughout the winter to heat your home and warm your water; your boiler might be in need of some much needed care and attention this spring. This is largely due to the fact that excessive overuse deteriorates the overall integrity and potency of your potentially overworked boiler.

As such, the spring time is usually an opportune time to service your boiler as well as performing some very general maintenance and routine checks. At Royale Boilers, we provide quality boiler servicing in Stoke-on-Trent so we understand the importance of frequent and proper boiler maintenance.

During the seasons of spring and summer we are generally less reliant on our trusty old boilers; but this does not mean that you should just ignore any potential problems and hope they will go away when the winter time comes around.

Spring is sometimes an unusual conundrum as temperatures can very easily rise while plummeting the very next day. With the weather being as temperamental as it can be, it makes it all the more beneficial to have the boiler ready on stand by.

So let’s take a look at some of the many ways you can service your boiler, or watch out for potentially harmful problems, this spring.

Listen Out For Bubbles

During the hotter months, even the healthiest boilers can make strange or unusual noises. This could be due to a number of different factors which include internal overheating or even just being unclean.

That being said, if your boiler starts to make a bubbling sound, then there usually is a problem. Similar to dishwashers and washing machines, over longer periods of time, there can be a general build of limescale which can derode the inside of your boiler.

If you happen to hear bubbling sounds, then you should contact a fully qualified boiler engineer straight away.

Spring Clean Your Boiler

You might have already started your spring cleaning; when carrying the process out, you will have probably started cleaning the essentials like your living and/or bathroom. However, you might want to consider spring cleaning your boiler.

While most of the benefits can be pure aesthetics, cleaning your boiler can actually prevent your boiler from getting damaged or attracting unwanted foriegn bodies.

Radiators

While on the topic of spring cleaning, you might want to consider cleaning your radiator. You can start by dusting off your radiator and just give it a general clean up. After this you will want to bleed the radiators.

Bleeding the radiators releases any excess air in the radiator already. This ensures your radiator will work properly in the months to come. If after bleeding your radiators are not performing to the desired standard, then you might be required to do a power flash.

Spot A Leak

In the springtime, your boiler can become particularly vulnerable to developing leaks. This is due to the fact that in the winter or colder months, pipes tend to freeze and expand and then even burst when they become thawed.

Checking that the seals around the boiler are fitted tightly is usually a good starting point. Much of the necessary checks can be carried out by hand. If you are unsure, be sure to contact a fully qualified heating engineer in Stoke-on-Trent or your local area.

Turn Down The Thermostat

As the temperatures rise, you will notice your home progressly gets warmer too. This rings especially true for rooms which see an overabundance of sunlight due to a variety of windows.

If your room is getting progressively warmer you might want to consider turning down your thermostat. Not only will this help maintain the health of your boiler, it will also help decrease your energy bills saving you money in the long run. Each degree you turn down will make a nice difference to your wallet.

Beware Of Blockages

When it comes to boiler servicing; many engineers cite blockages and leaks as some of the most common problems. Blockages will appear very quickly when the heating is in use. If you do manage to notice a block or leak, be sure to contact a professional straight away as this will drastically improve the chances of avoiding damage to the inner workings of your boiler.
